I honestly don't know what happened for 847 with her. She literally gave the easiest questions in midterm and exam.
I like Dr. S.B. Tajali. She is very straightforward with requirements. Puts emphasis on topics necessary for midterm and exam. Will answer any questions during class or after class. Overall, I would take another class with this prof. Databases aren't the most exciting course but important to know. I just show up to class and listen. Easy to learn
Dr. Tajali is a very good professor, and very sweet if you approach her for anything. Her lectures are a bit slow but she tries her best. She wasn't the course coordinator, but she told us what to focus on, which helped A LOT. The group assignments were easy and she was very understanding about any query emailed to her.
She uses the worsssst lecture slides. Veryyy boring in class, you wouldn't actually understand a single word she says. Very unmotivated! As a matter of fact, the most unmotivated person in her class is herself! Extremely dry lectures that she gets even bored. The lecture notes are just bullet points, around 200 pages of only bullet points! Useless!
This is for ECE454 at U of T, but someone's gotta bite the bullet here. Just see some of the reviews below and you'll get the idea - patterns are patterns.
A little bit dry but she's a good prof overall. If you don't understand something or have a concern you can visit her during office hours after lectures. The tests are straightforward based on slide materials albeit they require you to think a bit (subtle details in the questions).
Lecture Slides: Horrible, not enough relevant content Mid/Tests: Not too hard but has mistakes in it Labs: Simple but requirements are very confusing Randomly takes attendance for participation and quizzes. Assignment is group based, confusing again as to what she wants.
Avoid if you don't want to come to class: random attendance, marked lecture quizzes, monotone voice, and dry lectures. You will be tested on unconventional things like syntax or gimmicky features not covered in slides. Lab and project requirements are ambiguous, and while some labs are easy enough to be redundant, the project is very overloaded.
Horrible prof, large assignments and labs that are unnecessary, and groups that you can't change. Horrible communication.
Awful slides. Awful lecturing. Always shows up late. Has some of the most vague lecture slides available when the prerequisite course for this had some of the most clear slides for similar material. Her disorganization makes your experience as a student in her class much worse.
