For a non-comp sci major, his lectures are nothing but confusing. He assumes we're experts, and I'm sure that to experts, his analogies would be pretty cool. Nothing against the professor as a person, I just struggled to learn the content with his teaching style. He would stay behind after lectures to help with the assignments, which was nice.
Not a good teacher, Very inaccessible, would not take his class again, as Labs and assignments are much more difficult than lecture material
Marking Scheme is absolutely horrible. Explanations not clear and goes off topic; always provides a useless analogy when explaining concepts. Not reasonable when talking to as well.
Just copies textbook into a powerpoint then reads off the slides. Very little interaction with the class. He does not clearly explain concepts or provide examples which are essential for this type of course. Going to the lectures is a waste of time, just teach yourself the material from home you will learn it better.
Professor Andriy uses power points which slides are taken from pages of the textbook. I am visual and interactive learner (classes where professor write on the board and explain are the best for me) so his lectures weren't helpful to me. I got good grades by taking notes on the textbook and doing the labs.
Dont even bother showing up to class, this guy copy pastes the textbook onto his slides and posts them online. People in the class barely understand the mandatory stuff and he starts talking about C and C++ and useless stuff which just makes everything more confusing. I would rather let my illiterate grandma teach me.
just go to derpanis' lecture instead
great at teaching, explains a lot during lectures
He is a very good prof for that class. Explains a lot of extra interestings things and industry trends. It is not an easy course for beginners, the marking scheme (determened by the department) is not very fair as well.
