idek where to start. she seemed like a kind and sweet lady, but she was so lost the entire semester. she makes up her own rubrics and will admit she fell asleep marking your paper. unreasonable marker, until you ask her and she'll "look at it again." got marks taken off bc she saw flickering lights in room and thought my paper was coloured...... :)
Barb was my least favourite prof of the semester. She provided no info concerning her course expectations and failed to lead any discussions concerning course readings (don't do them). Show up to her class because she does pay attention to participation. Overall, If you follow instructions from the syllabus she'll usually give an easy A.
If you see her name on your timetable, try to get out. She gave myself and many other students a very hard time that caused a lot of stress. Does not follow rubrics or course outline, and does not give feedback. Probably one of the worst experiences Ive had with a professor.
I had Barb, yes she lets us call her Barb because she is so cool, as my seminar leader in Fall 2018. We would sit in a circle and discuss our thoughts and feelings. Barb is one of the few profs I have had that care for you and wants you to succeed. I have learned so much from her and transferred my knowledge to other courses. She is such a kid soul
Messed up exam dates by stating 2 different dates for exams. Emailed her kindly asking to clarify since this course is online. Replies back rudely with caps lock and many inappropriate uses of ellipses giving the impression I (and several friends who were also confused) was inadequate. Did this on midterm AND final. Only sent her 2 emails total.
Barb is very nice however, is not a good prof. She goes off track & her seminars have little to do with the weeks lecture. Attendance to the seminars are mandatory & she likes discussions. She is not very good with giving feedback & does not have clear grading criteria. She is a hard marker & all assignments (& take home exam) are written papers.
Passionate about the content. Fairly good teaching style. A bit of a tough grader. Show up to class to get participation marks. She is reasonable if you show her respect and don't take advantage.
She's a very sweet prof, and will mark well if you get on her good side, but she does not explain why she takes off marks. She prefers people who have a previous university degree and assumes they know how to write essays and gives them close to full marks. I suggest doing very well on the first assignment to excel on the rest.
If you don't like being called out on during class, just pray you don't get her as a teacher. However she's a nice person, just could use a lesson or two on how to use technology
I personally found Barb's FNP classes really interesting. I found that students who do not enjoy learning about communication and learning from personal reflection disliked her teaching. However, Barb is a kind instructor and she is very good with feedback. Easy marker, just follow her instructions and ask for feedback.
