Teaches well. Do well on the midterm as he reuses past midterms and its open-book. However, the final exam is a little more difficult so you should study a bit more do increase your grade. Overall fun course with fun project.
I graduated during COVID with Prof. Chan as my capstone advisor. Unbelievably thankful that he was able to help our group out tremendously with taking on our automatic cocktail machine project. Really became a fun talking point for coworkers around the office— thank you so much, Professor!
The slides will be more than enough for this course. The notes are helpful and you'll need to memorize a handful of legal/ethical concepts so you can apply them on the tests. The material is lengthy but very easy to understand. Quizzes are free marks if you read the required documents.
Really easygoing prof who made the course very simple and also very enjoyable. I learned a lot from his course. Just make sure you don't slack on the project. Definitely would recommend.
GOAT. Theres nothing else to say. Really easy and knowledgeable prof. Makes the course really easy
You need to go to class in order to write down the examples. The in-class examples will be on the midterm and final exam, so don't skip class!! Otherwise, Dr. Chan is a caring prof who can be a little difficult to get a hold of outside of class.
He is an amazing prof, I had 5 courses from 1st year to my 4th year, I highly recommend to take MEC 431 with him to the upcoming 4th year students!
Doesn't mark your final project and exam fairly. everyone drops a lot at the end
Pretty fair prof. Though the way the course is run doesn't make sense. All your labs are marked by your TA (and the way TAs mark can really vary), then he marks the final project and exam, which can really bring down your mark.
