One of J-schools best profs Ive ever had! An extremely nice person. I enjoyed his feature writing class. He is very helpful, knowledgeable, and fun. He goes above and beyond to help students. He made sure to hire TAs who know the stuff. Im very glad that I took his course before his retirement. I cannot express my gratitude enough for him.
Honestly do not take classes with Ivor. He really is a nice person but an awful teacher, the rubrics and instructions are so unclear that even TAs were unsure of what Ivor wanted. In a feature writing class, we learned nothing about features and only wrote one. The class is poorly structured and shouldn't be mandatory.
Ivor is amazing! He has so much experience and expertise, and puts in a lot of effort for all of his classes and lectures. He's also a genuinely interesting person, so I would recommend taking some time to speak to him and get to know him. I learned a lot from his online class, though the tests we had to take were kind of a mess.
All he did was show movies that he liked, get distracted by his own inability to not use technology properly, and constantly blamed students for his inability to concentrate on his own lectures.

Best class I took at Ryerson. Ivor was organized, enthusiastic, helpful, respectful, and intellectually inspiring. He made the material clear and interesting, and believed in me. These factors inspired me to live up to his expectations, turning in some of my best work. Ivor helped me believe in myself, and it shows in everything I do.
In my experience at Ryerson University, Ivor is the only person who can see through the transparent **** keeners who have their noses up all the other profs' asses. His class was genuinely enjoyable, and he treated everyone with individual respect. we were all his favorites, it seemed.
Lot's of negative comments but this does not mean the man is a write off. Genuine.
He's kind of interesting, he's a bit of an ass but generally complimentary at the same time. Very disorganized, like others said, he seems to have a bad memory.
Ivor's teaching style and my learning style were not always compatible--you have to ask him a million times just to get a simple question answered sometimes! But he is really passionate about writing and I always appreciated that.
