Glaucia Melo dos Santos

I took CPS590 in Winter 2025, taught by Dr. Melo. Course coordinator was Dr. Woit. I loved Melo's teaching style, she took questions seriously and seemed to care about our understanding. She was also very approachable and helpful in office hours. I suspect her bad ratings are largely due to CPS590 being a tough course that requires much reading.

She is so hard on this course. The slides are poorly worded for students to understand the materials too.

Nice, but not sure if she creates the test questions, but some of the questions are unclear and sometimes ambiguous. She is approachable when it comes to asking questions.

She gave us a practice midterm and said questions will be just like that. Completely set everyone in the wrong direction, questions were barely off the slides, basically all off the textbook. The second test however, did make up for her first one.

Very fair tests, textbook and tests are aligned. She really cares about her students success and seems to be a genuine person. Highly recommend
