Erik Skouris

I had him for masters at uoft, lets just say that was not fun.

Good architect, tough course. The work and process are unique, but you need to be independent and willing to take risks. Field trips was a plus.

I had an experience with him at upfront. He's a good architect and has great indigenous knowledge but he lacks leadership skills and empathy to be a good prof.

I had some experience with Erik and came away with mixed impressions. He can provide helpful feedback, but I found the expectations and follow-through were not always aligned. At times, student time and input felt undervalued, which affected the overall experience. I would likely choose a different instructor.

Not someone i would take again, the experience was okay. I did see some favouritism occur sometimes, I gave him the benefit of the doubt but as a prof you can conduct yourself better. He was an unfair grader and was never true to his word. He would often be late and then lecture everyone on not being late; like...?

He gave me a poor participation mark when he wasn't even there half th time.

He will tell you he likes your idea and then at the day of the actual presentation he will question why you made that design decision. If you value your sanity don't take him as a prof he is super unfair with his grading system; no justification otherwise. If you see any other rating that says he's a good prof that's probably him himself.

Took Erik Skouris for Indigenous Architecture studio and it was one of the best studios I've had at TMU. He really cares about students and the work. Challenging but meaningful, with thoughtful crits that help you improve. Highly recommend.

Great instructor backed by real-world results and experience. The course pushed me to think about architecture in a new and refreshing way. It was challenging, but my research and studio projects were strong, and the results speak for themselves.

Strong and thoughtful feedback during critiques, but grading felt highly subjective. Good studio if you're comfortable with ambiguity and frequent check-ins.
