Professor Vogel is more of a critic than a teacher. She creates a negative learning environment by being unclear with expectations and treating students with disrespect. Instead of being inspirational, challenging, and helpful she is rude and dismissive. I would not recommend taking her class.
She is the worst professor that I have ever seen. If you want to be respected, dont take her class. If you want to have clear assignment outline, dont take her class. If you want to get some useful tips, dont take her class. If you want to pass this course, dont take her class. Hope everybody can be lucky to avoid her class.
While she gave inspiring ideas, she didn't encourage students to have their own. She would not follow what the plan was for all of the sections. She caused anxiety when she tried to take an extension away from only our section. Not one marking rubric was given to us with feedback and she didnt give us a mark for a major assignment. Do not recommend
The knowledge and inspiration you wish to have, she has it. Makes you read a lot. She won't be sweet when it comes to critiques. You might be feeling off for a while, but if you snooze you lose. Needs to work on time management but otherwise, she is a gem.
I have such mixed feelings about Professor Vogel. When she is talking about design it's downright inspirational. However, she has consistently used fear and humiliation to motivate students (maybe unintentionally, but still). I have never had so much anxiety from a class, and honestly don't think my mental health could handle it again.
Professor Vogel is a very intense person especially when it comes to critiquing BUT I did learn a lot from her class. I just wish she could be more clear in her outlines about what she exactly wants from you. Also get ready to research for your work because she expects you to have a reason for anything you include in your design.
She's an inspiring prof who really knows what she's talking about with a tonne of real world experience, that is if you can get passed the fact she can be a little... rough, for lack of a better word I think she really does a good job. Don't take anything personally (it'll be difficult sometimes) and you'll actually learn something.
I admire and respect this woman deeply. Be prepared to work if you are in her class, the outcome is worth it.
I liked her class and way of teaching, shes very inspiring and tell the things as they are ... If you are the kind of person who likes to hear the opposite and don't like to do double of the work, don't take her class. Overall, she could improve in organization and clarity ... But she won't cuz she's a Diva!
It may have taken an entire semester for me to warm up to her, but I thoroughly respect her opinion, and though many may find her accent distracting, the content of her words is actually very useful. Has so much experience that it would be stupid not to consider her advice.
