She makes effort in helping students succeed, as every lecture begins with a review of the past weeks content. She also gives practice multiple choice questions which often show up on exams. But her exams always have a lot of short answers which are difficult and integrative. Her slides are also quite empty sometimes which is a bit annoying.
Prof. Ealey is a really nice prof. But don't let the nice smiles fool you. She sets the bar high. So expect to put in work. There is lots of readings and the lectures are loaded. I wouldn't say she is a tough grader, but her tests are tough. A lot of her short answers are multi step application questions that are very challenging and worth a lot.
Kafi is an excellent professor. Her lectures are SO fun and she is very clear on the key concepts that we are expected to know. You definitely have to put in effort, or you will get burnt. There is quite a bit of reading. The lectures are packed with info, and her short answer questions require you to really know the topic beyond a surface level.
anxiety inducing prof and exams are terribly worded
2 textbooks are required for the class so it's a ton of reading. She's a nice person but her teaching method is ineffective, her approach is intimidating and confusing, whereas the content can be simplified much more.
Kafi is a kind person but not the greatest prof. She focuses on a lot of short answer questions as opposed to multiple choice, and the grading scheme for those questions are strict. There's lots of content and her teaching method invokes a lot of anxiety and isn't practical for learning. There are 2 textbooks required for the class.
Professor Ealey was SO good. Her office hours were extremely helpful for me. She explains stuff really well. She also talks about additional stuff in the lectures that aren't on the slides, so I don't recommend skipping. Her exam Qs involve real life application questions of the topic which feels rewarding when you put time into learning.
no clear rubrics given + completely ambiguous grading schemes. insanely frustrating assignments with shifting goalposts prepare to get told to "elaborate" and define BASIC premises while at your maximum page length. prepare for vague and expansive short answer questions. Ask to review your tests, she will mess up marking and YOU have to catch it.
Expects students to quickly grasp complex material, often overwhelming them with information rather than focusing on comprehension. Her expertise in nutrition and metabolism leads to unrealistic expectations for us students who are newly learning this material. Lacks clear grading rubrics and does not effectively communicate her expectations.
