This professor doesn't do what a proper academic scholar & lecturer should do, which is teaching proper info & accuracy, but rather gives her personal opinions, which are skewed & biased. It was concerning taking her class as it felt like it was more of an opinion TED talk instead of a class where one learns the truth & can form their own thoughts.
Prof Karimi is genuinely a very inspirational professor, her lectures are more like a conversation and that is something I enjoyed. DO NOT SHOW UP LATE, if you are planning to you have to email her, timeliness is very important to her. She has a tendency to cut people off, but otherwise she's a great Prof.
Graded hard. We have prompt to write after every class, she will watching you during writing to make sure you don't cheat or copy on ChatGPT. If you don't share your thoughts, then you will receive 0 on participation. Don't take this course with her.
Maral was a great prof. 10/10 recommend. She genuinely cares about giving her students a safe space to speak their political opinions and why, no matter if she agrees or not. The tests were fairly simple, but you need to actually read the text to do well. I wish she was teaching next sem! PS if you're late to class email her or you cannot go in. :)
Professor Karimi is great. She's got a lot of experience in her field. Do not show up to lecture late - its annoying, she hates it. Politics courses start off with class discussions, she encourages all opinions, but fairly requests people learn to defend themselves which is good. Clear syllabus. POG 214 had 2 tests, multiple choice and group work.
I honestly really appreciated the professor's teaching style. All her classes start off with a conversation between the class about “What's going on in the world” which makes the class really interesting to attend. She can be strict with her rules but she is always upfront about them. Readings are needed to succeed. I would def take her class again
I would 100% take another class with Dr. Karimi. She takes a critical approach to current events and applies the broad class concepts to them. Her lectures give students a chance to voice their opinions and ideas, and teaches students to respectfully debate with one another. The lectures are not necessary to do well, but I suggest attending.
Aside from her ridiculous rule of coming into lects late, honestly her class isn't bad at all. I'd actually recommend taking her class. The first hour of class is dedicated towards current news/politics and for the most part it's engaging. As for her teaching, you don't really learn much, you don't need to show up, just do the readings 4 her tests
good prof, is scary at first, but nice overall. Definelty don't go to class late! Students who complain about her are a joke, and they probably don't even go to class. i heard 214 was so much easier compared to 210, but trust me 210 is not that hard. the reading all three chapters are 60 total. just read before the test imo
I had her for both POG 210 & POG 214. She really is not that bad but given that lectures weren't mandatory to attend, just don't show up late because she doesn't allow it, but she will show mercy at times haha! The tests are based on assigned readings each worth 15% and focus on knowing how to apply the material instead of memorizing it
