This class was great and I was able to connect with many industry leaders in USA and Canada through prof Charlie connections.
Hands down the most informative course I've ever taken. Very practical for anyone looking to get into the music industry.
Professor Wall-Andrews was thoughtgul in terms of connecting students with industry. Great experince in Nashville and made new friends.
Charlies industry experience, knowledge, and network, provided us with many practical lessons. The course is very hands on - we learned by actually taking action. There was guest artists that we had to perform case studies on, tour at music label, and events to attend. It is not a easy course, but it is fun. Be mindful when picking group members.
The class is demanding but interesting and practical. Active participation matters in her class. Be mindful when selecting your group for the final project. Lectures were great.
While Charlie is knowledgeable in her field, her teaching approach is uncomfortably intense. She often singles out students in ways more embarrassing and demeaning than constructive. It was also challenging to seek any clarification with her via email as her responses were extremely blunt and lacked professionalism.
A hands-on, valuable class that will teach you a lot about the realities of working with brands. This is NOT an easy elective, so unless you actually care about the subject matter, don't take it. It's also heavily dependent on your group for your major group project that takes place over most of the semester.
I really enjoyed this class with Charlie but please know it is a TOUGH one. With that being said it's one of the most hands on, interesting courses I've taken in my four years at TMU. Just be ready to show up and work hard but you'll gain a ton of real world experience. PS be a good group member!!
This class is not easy, but it's so fulfilling. You get hands-on experience and great learning opportunities. Charlie is well-versed in her field and I was grateful for how much industry knowledge she shared. However, her deadlines are final with little to no room for accommodations. This didn't affect me personally, but it's important to note.
Look - it isn't a bird course but it's a fun course, if you wanna get ur value in education, and if you wanna have fun and actually get HANDS on & LEARN smth… then take this course, I promise it's going to be fun but you gotta spend a bit of time on it. & yes, guest speaks (artists) $ yes we got a site visit to a record label… so like 10/10.
