Ended up having to drop of his class because he wasn't understanding of commitments that I couldn't cancel on that were literally also for credit.
Ravi was a nice person but the class was pretty useless. The assignments were super unclear and I felt like I was just guessing. He didn't talk about anything important during the lectures but would take attendance without notice.
Ravi is a dope professor, he cares about what he does and it is apparent. He pushes his students and genuinely wants to hear from them. One of these other comments mention him not giving easy answers to questions and describes it as a way for him to sound smart. this aint it, he just enjoys elaborating with students and opening conversations.
He is a good dude, but SO confusing. No rubric on assignments (he doesn't believe in them) so it's hard to know what he expects. His class is honestly kind boring and doesn't need to be three hours. His grading is fair but his assignments are just so confusing and often makes you guess on what to do for them. I'd avoid this class but he is nice.
The fact that Professor Mohabeer does not (and refuses to) use a rubric or clearly outlined assignment criteria is very telling. It indicates a lack of accountability in both his grading and classroom teaching style. There are no obvious guidelines, yet you are still expected to perform in accordance with these nebulous standards.
I could write an essay about Prof. Mohabeer's teaching style, but I will try to be brief. He frequently poses questions that are traps for students so he can demonstrate he thinks he's smarter than them. He does not produce rubrics for his class. He does not give any useful feedback. He knows these problems. He refuses to change.
This class could have been interesting if it wasnt taught by him. My advice avoid this class if you actually care about learning. Awful lecturer, weird grader, doesn't take feedback, confusing feedback. Your grades are a gamble. This class came and went and I've learnt nothing except what the rock bottom of professors so far looks like.
Ravi seems very nice, but often fails to make any actual coherent or new point. It's stating the obvious in a way that sounds complicated and confusing but isn't. Any interesting idea was just ignored. When 80% of the class stops showing up, and those that do, are dedicated to proving him wrong...that's not a sign of a well-taught class.
Ravi is incapable of making things relevant, make sense or have any meaning to anything at all. His assignment criteria is vague and largely up to personal interpretation with NO rubric. Have fun guessing what he's looking for. His feedback is also nonsense, he will tell you good job, give little or no ways to improve then give you a 70.
I could listen to this guy everyday, if he had a podcast it might be pretty successful. Be aware that his lectures and assignments are pretty different from what you might be used to you just need to think in a different way than your used to. If you want to be successful in his class you need to stop and think about what he explains in lectures.
