I wanted to enjoy this class but ughh. For the final assignment you have to film yourself going to a museum. VERY time-consuming + she expects you to have software/editing skills. No real lectures, students teach each other with presentations in class. Also got strangely religious. Talked about her "faith journey" and dedicated a class to the cross
She's very disorganized and doesn't follow the syllabus. This class is participation heavy and if you don't participate, you lose A LOT of marks. You don't learn anything from this class.
Very unorganized professor. She has to work on her syllabus because somethings were not followed correctly. She seems to go with the flow instead of having a strict lesson sometimes. While I think it's fine to go with the flow sometimes students don't want to present and talk infront of the whole class and she's very inconsiderate to those students
This class is a disappointment. She does not Lecture at all, I was excited for a professor passionate about history but she is late and gets the students to teach the class through oral presentations. The whole class is students giving 15 min presentations per person. NO LECTURES. prepare for 'dance breaks'.
This class was honestly one of the most unorganized classes I have ever taken. There is absolutely no announcements at all on d2l which confuses an individual. There were random group presentations that took place in class, mandatory attendance sheet, and participation is heavy in this course. Grading was also super weird and unfair in my opinion.
I took this class in 2024 and I wish I dropped it. The professor seems to favourite certain people. She likes to pick on people during class discussions and I think that's really unfair especially for students that have anxiety of talking in big classes. Will not be taking a class with this professor.
This class was the most unorganized class I've ever had. From the beginning to the end everything was always changing in this course. There was only one announcement posted in this class and important dates were never re mentioned by prof. This prof is definitely new and has to work on building a strict syllabus because that's what students follow.
Loved prof Allen, she's very passionate about the course, and makes it very interactive. she makes us do group presentations almost every class, which are very chill and are mostly to get you accustomed to presenting with people.
FOR HIS 401!!! Dr. Allen is an extremely caring and passionate professor. She cares about her students, and that is so evident. I prefer a more traditional approach to learning (e.g. essays, written examinations, lectures), and this is not Dr. Allen. If you're into presentations and group work, you will love her! Overall, HIS 401 was an easy course
She is honestly not bad, especially as an antisocial person, she will somewhat try to get you out your bubble, but wouldn't really force you. No exam, No tests, Just homework! Easiest class as a first year
