Not an easy subject to study. Lectures felt scripted and mechanical. You can tell Professor DeWelles is new to this, and whilst you can see she is very passionate and has a deep understanding about disability studies, it all came across as impersonal. Course is very heavy with readings, doesn't provide critical feedback and very tough on grades.
Difficult course, but worthwhile. Tough with marking, but listens and shows that she cares.
Maddy is new to being a professor and it shows. All of the material that she posts is not her own work, it is work from another professor. Lectures/webinars are all scripted, she refuses to give someone 100%, no rubrics, does not give any critical feedback, and has refused to give us our marks for the final exam & our participation marks
I highly recommend Professor De Welles. Her course was not that easy, but if you put in the time to do the readings and weekly online discussion posts, you should do fine. She has a deep understanding of disability studies, and I acquired a lot of knowledge from taking her class. Professor De Welles is also incredibly caring and compassionate.
The best professor ever. I wish she taught every course in the disability studies professor. You won't regret it!
