Don't listen to the high ratings, I had this prof for AFA 400 last year and I still have nightmares. His actual ratings are under Brad MacMaster. Please don't take him unless you want to go down a spiral of depression. All he talks about is how he was a CFO and how he's better than everyone rather than teaching.
Brad is a great prof! He's more on the serious side but once you get to know him he seems less daunting. He definitely is there to help out especially if you are an engaged student who attends lectures, participates, and does homework. That brings me to my tip if you take this course, make sure to stay on top of readings! You'll be golden if you do
The lectures and notes he provides are very in-depth and properly explain everything you need to know about the course content. The notes are quite long (around 50 pages sometimes) but will help immensely. He picks on people in class to answer questions but attendance isn't mandatory. Very nice prof too.
I enjoyed this class. Despite not being a fan of numbers, attending his lectures significantly deepened my understanding. He is the type to call on people in the class so try to prepare but as long as he can see you are trying to learn and understand, you will be okay! Very insightful.
He is a good prof. The thing with accounting is practice practice practice. I didn't do that as much because of the amount of classes I was carrying. But over all he is by the book, he will not deviate or bend the rules for anyone or anything. Forget your tough circumstances.
