Dr. Brady is so amazing and I really enjoyed CLD540. It was such an engaging course, I hope soon this course becomes a required course because of how good it is!
This class has lots of in-class activities that make up a significant portion of your grade. If you go to lectures and implement the feedback you receive on assignments, then it's easy to succeed in this course. Janelle is a lovely and engaging professor who clearly cares about her students.
Overall, the course feels strict, unclear, and unreasonably marked.
The class is mandatory, with quizzes and group breakout activities that feel more like attendance checks than real learning. If you're not interested in a guest lecture and quietly focus on your own work without interrupting, she treats it as a problem and responds rudely, as if students aren't paying for their own tuition.
I would not recommend this course with Professor Janelle Brady. Even when you follow the assignment guidelines, the TAs grade very harshly, and the expectations are unclear because the instructions are not written properly.
Janelle is a nice prof, but annoying she gets mad when you talk and if you're on your phone. The TA Georgina marks like you did her wrong in her past life. Classes are mandatory due to group activities and quizzes
Janelle is a very kind professor who cares about her students. Although she reads off slides, classes are kind of mandatory due to group work almost every class. Very clear guidelines and criteria for quizzes and assignments. TA's are tough graders for group work, even after following rubric. Overall such a great class environment
Professor Janelle was nice, but CLD540 was a new course that needed to be more organized and neat. She was a hard marker and had high expectations rather than guidelines. Also, so many assignments need to be clarified and simplified. If you have any other options, I recommend ignoring this course. It affected my GPA, which is frustrating.
Excellent professor! Very engaging lectures which she breaks up with group discussions/activities. She is also very caring and willing to work around students' schedules. She is a very fair grader and provides good review for the exam. However, it is very important to read the textbook and connect your ideas shared in class with the reading.
Dr. Brady is a very sweet professor, and her lectures are very engaging! I would recommend participating; most assignments are fairly simple and the exam is straight-forward. One con is the weekly group discussions; make sure you include everything needed
