Dr. Jeta Mulaj has an incredibly passionate and engaging lecturing style and I highly recommend her course if you are interested in Feminist Philosophy. She selects relevant and thought-provoking readings, which are crucial to read for the exams. Lectures are fully analogue, but it makes the lecture & class discussions much more immersive.
One of the most challenging courses I've taken at university but it was absolutely worth it for the insights that Jeta presents. She understands the material she's presenting so thoroughly and knows how to explain everything she presents wonderfully. I personally liked her no technology rule but I can see how it can be difficult to work around.
Very passionate speaker. Each lecture feels more eye-opening than the last. Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys lecture heavy courses. Jeta Mulaj is open to students challenging details in the course content and to further exploring conversations.
Very passionate speaker, each PHL lesson with Jeta Mulaj is more eye-opening and thought-provoking than the last. She is open to students who challenge her and to those who want to explore conversations about the lessons. Would highly recommend.
Professor Mulaj is one of my favourite profs, having taken both 520 and 544. She clearly cares about her students and explains the content thoroughly. All written assignments have rubrics with clear grading criteria. No technology is allowed in class, and the readings do tend to be long, but if you attend and pay attention you will be fine.
i absolutely adored dr. mulaj's class. she explains every concept very clearly, making this one of the most beneficial phl classes ive ever taken. while the no technology thing is not for everyone, i found it really helpful in truly nailing all of the concepts down. she was very accommodating to me. i honestly wish i could have her for every class!
If you want to learn about a topic, improve your writing/study habits, and engage in meaningful class discussions: you NEED to take a course with Jeta. Her classes will remind you of what university should be. If you want an easy mark, avoid her at all costs. No tech in class, and expect to read at least 50 pages of dense theory every week.
taken many PHL courses before & considered majoring in it bc i love it so much but she killed my love for it. very strict about accommodations so good luck getting them! very ambiguous syllabus, have to try to decipher want she wants from you on assignments. make friends! there's no slides, no technology & no notes from her, & unfair harsh marking.
One of the best profs I've ever had. She does an incredible job of fostering discussion - she clearly is very knowledgable with the materials and she handles questions and curveballs like a pro. You know when someone is so good at teaching that they can break down a concept to 2-3 succinct sentences? That's her. You'll love if you're a REAL LEARNER
Although she was really nice and cool, I found it hard as a non-philosophy student. I did reach out to her and she sent me lots of resources but even then I felt like the course doesn't warm transition you into how to think like a philospher, to which many students already had down. Cool lady though. Just not a course for me.
