She is very clear with expectations, go to lectures and she will tell you exactly what to do on assignments/exams to get a good grade, and sometimes preview exam questions. Assignment grades are a bit harsh. She's clearly passionate about what she teaches. In class she's the most apolitical sociology prof I've had, prob b/c she's department chair
Both Prof Teelucksingh and TA Joelle were super helpful being very lenient and considerate. Indeed accessible outside of class. Attending her lectures in person was fun too. I 100% recommend and don't worry about hard marking, if anything just let them know your concerns and they will look over it again to reconsider your grade. So understanding.
Such a great, understanding professor. I had the pleasure of having Joelle as my TA too, and both of them are very kind and EXTREMELY accessible outside of class when necessary. As long as you brush over the readings and participate (heavy on this), you're bound to get that credit. Enjoyed taking this course and learning about Toronto's history.
Dr. Teelucksingh is an amazing Prof. She gives great feedback to her students and she is a generous marker! Remote learning is tough to gather engagement but she did an amazing job through the facilitation of discussion and activities. She's always up to laugh in class! Definitely not a bird course, but you will learn valuable things in her class!
not the best. her lectures are extremely boring and she's kinda rude when responding to emails. you really have to pay attention though because she asks specific questions on tests. marks okay on assignments.
LOVE prof teelucksingh! So engaging, her lectures are amazing and the material is so interesting. She's very accessible and wants you to succeed and will help you to. The readings are interesting. She does a few videos (15-20 mins) a week and then holds the live lecture- that's a summary of the vids, but basically summarizes the readings too.
I thought professor Teelucksingh's class was really enjoyable! There was just a lot of reading that you have to force yourself to get through. The TA's are a little bit of hard markers as well so you really have to push yourself for the final essay. But there is no final exam, just a take-home midterm. Recommend if you wanna learn about Toronto!
This prof is really boring. Her online lectures were short which is nice but so boring. This class is like a high school history class. The readings were really long and honestly boring. I felt like i didn't get anything out of taking this course.
The prof seems nice. I think that the TA's she may have chosen for this class are difficult, or maybe that's to her instruction? for our final paper (in place of a final exam bc covid) the TA said no one can get over an 80 because its argumentative lol? the readings are extensive and for a second year course. wouldn't recommend this course
I personally didn't get a good mark in this class because I had it at 8am, its hard for me to focus on a lecture heavy content when tired ya know? But for the most part she was a pretty good prof, my TA kinda sucked though. My main issue is the midterm because its multiple choice, so is the final exam. The essay isn't that bad either.
