Very sweet professor and very welcoming, especially because I was a first year, I think she helped me adjust to university life well. Participation is a huge part of this course, it was worth 20%, so if you are not comfortable with that don't take. You must attend all tutorials. They graded the novel assignment weirdly, but no other complaints
Knowledgeable and passionate about English; assignments are easy if you put effort in. Attendance is recommended; she'll have random pop quizzes. Grading is a bit tough; you have to know what they're looking for. You have to buy two books for the class (buy them at the campus store on the day of your first lecture, or you'll have problems later).
Dr. Ballantyne is a lovely professor. Her lectures are interesting and engaging and she shares lots of stories from her own life. Some of the written assignments are trickier, but very doable if you study, pay attention in lecture, and ask your TAs for detailed feedback. I really enjoyed this course.
Her lectures are very fun. The assignments are also very easy. Just make sure you participate.. I could've gotten an A if I raised my hand... :(
she's so sweet... take her, she's the best prof i think i've had so far. her lectures are interesting and tutorials are really great as well! her class was easy for me so i totally recommend !!
Such a sweet prof. Her lectures were interesting and she's passionate abt english. Her instructions are clear and she grades by them. She was very understanding when students needed an extension too.
Definitely is a very nice person and very caring, however could be forgetful at times. Participation certainly mattered as I ended up failing it by missing two tutorials the entire semester which was pretty ridiculous.
Lovely teacher! I was sick and couldn't write my midterm during one of the tutorials. She let me write it after a lecture in her office. She has a very comfy chair yall
She is extremely caring, and her lectures are great. Although attendance is mandatory, the readings and lectures are very interesting. I would take another course with her in the future.
I absolutely loved Ballantyne. Every class I was learning something new that was relevant to my life or the world (well spoken). I NEED to shout out my TA Isabella Storey. She gave us a little bit of extra time during tests in our tutorials. I got 100% on every assignment she marked. I also really enjoyed the material we had to read
