James McLean

James is a great prof and CGEO106 is an easy course. A lot of the content is common sense and mundane. All you have to do to get a good grade is talk about yourself in the weekly mini-essays or discussion posts. None of the papers require references or works cited! Great prof, great course would take a class with him again. Get ready to write!

The class material itself is more like sociology than a geography one. The instructions for assignments and essay are very vague and unclear. Pair that with a tough grader and you have a terrible combination. He does give good feedback however and the material itself is easy to understand. Exams were mcq so not difficult but writing stuff is hard..

horrible prof. Condescending and very uncaring of his students. at first seems nice, but after a few classes is rude. exams are hard and marks very hard. cares about grammar and other random things. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! its so BORING and not an easy elective!!!

boring class but that's expected of a GEO class. other reviews are LAZY LIARS. he gives good feedback on assignment + appreciates when u engage in live lectures. exams are easy, straight from PPTs. mini assignments are mark boosters. he is rlly friendly and knowledgeable. u can do the bare minimum and get a good mark. nice bird course.

This class is a waste of everyone's time and money. Seriously you really shouldn't bother it's not an easy mark nor is it even about anything other than James rambling on about nothing. Waaaay too many writing assignments that you are supposed to come up with based on nothing. Worst class I've taken in Uni

WORST professor. He is rude and condescending. classes are boring and his exams and test are hard Heavy readings and a very tough grader.3 short essay assignments, 2 essays on the exams, and a 7 page essay for your midterm along with an exam. took this as my elective thinking it would be easy, it was the hardest course i took. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!

I took this class as a Liberal and expected it to be a little easier. There is a lot of content, so be prepared to study for the midterm and final exams. Otherwise, the essay is pretty easy if you attend classes and listen since he gives a lot of information you can use. MEGs were fun and flexible, which I enjoyed since it was a summer class.

This summer, I had to take this course as it was apart of my minor. Never in a million years imagined that the grammatical requirements of this course would be that stringent. This course is ideal for you if you enjoy writing and are curious in geographies and places. IF YOU ARE NOT THEN DON'T TAKE THIS COURSE!
