She used to be my prof, I always used to email her to see what courses she is teaching next semester so I can take classes with her. She was a very good professor.
I know that Dr. Begum gets a lot of hate for her vague teaching style, however she truly cares about her students and is a super easy marker. You definitely need to be a student on the more independent side, however she is always available to explain concepts that you struggle with. She also gives a lot of leeway for assignments and isn't strict.
She is not a good professor. When you ask her to clarify, she is very standoffish and will copy and paste the confusing instructions from the course outline. You will lose at least 10% on every assignment because she gives extremely poor instructions. I was dinged so many times on random things that weren't even mentioned in the rubrics. Avoid her.
This professor has extremely unclear rubrics and springs new requirements on you unexpectedly. You can follow her assignment rubrics to a tee and receive a low mark back with feedback mentioning things that weren't even in the rubric (?). I am severely struggling in this class and feel as if I have virtually no support from the professor.
Poorly organized course shell, frustratingly unclear assignment instructions, discrepancies in marking/rubrics, errors throughout course (eg. on due dates, readings). Prof is available via email and office hours, which is appreciated, but her explanations leave more confusion. Struggling to learn the material due to poor instruction/administration.
CHIM408: Avoid this prof at all costs. Her rubrics don't align with her grading criteria, she constantly contradicts herself on her expectations for the assignments, she doesn't answer our questions and instead tells us to refer back to the confusing instructions, and her English is broken making it more difficult to understand what she wants.
Online course through Chang school. Professor is nice and tries to be helpful. It's an online course so participation through discussion posts are important (& graded). One group project but it's pretty straight forward. A few assignments and one final essay. As long as you follow the rubric and instructions, it's an easy A- with some effort.
