While the prof can be nice and teach well, this was the most needlessly tedious course I've ever taken. Please seriously and critically re-evaluate how you approach your classes in the future. Giving opportunities for boosting and being "nice" doesn't rectify the cooked environment you created, nor the mental spiral I had in taking this class.
This course used up so much time. The surface level of information taught in lecture does not excuse those test questions' difficulty. Please, create a tutorial, or Botelho-style homework bonus questions, or actually teach the "why" (or nuances) of concepts.
What rhymes with unjust… Krystal Nunes. If you did bad on your midterm she WILL blame the Ta's for being “hard markers” as though she has no control over the course. Although she does give students other opportunities to boost their grade, no matter how hard one studies, her midterms are impossible to do well in because there IS a word bank.
Content is easy but the midterm and final needs a specific word bank.
Makes material easy, summarizes slides so it's minimal words, records lectures, not lecture heavy, kind and funny and is easy to reach to outside of class.
Makes very reasonable exams and easy assignments. Fair grading scheme. Emphasizes important topics and doesn't test on many niche topics. Good professor overall. Very Satisfied.
plays music before class, relaxed lectures, helpful
I don't get the criticism from that annoying Asomns kid on Reddit, who continuously rants about how bad this course is. Nunes has clear grading, fair expectations, and she really connects w students for their success. There are plenty of chances to make up for bad grades, too. If you can't handle ecology, just drop out. Arguably easier than SCI180.
I do agree that Dr. Nunes is a great lecturer, however, the complexity of her midterms do not match the complexity of her lecture material. I found her exams to be more tricky than majority of other second year biology courses. She does give many opportunities to boost your grade which is nice.
THANK YOU DR NUNES FOR LISTENING TO US one of the only profs in the biologee department who love seeing her class succeed! Used our feedback to improve midterm 2 and class average skyrocketed. Anyone who hates on her or does poorly is sour and doesn't study how she clearly tells you to. Assignments are very straightforward and graded lightly.
