It was his first time teaching the course, has bad hand writing, has an accent, doesnt know how to work technology, doesnt give very good examples he just states formulas over and over and talks about everything externally broadly
Tthe subject matter is difficult. Lectures cover theory but is necessary to do examples to really learn material. The testing is fair but many struggle due the materials unavoidable difficulty/rigor. Prof is available after hours to answer questions and the marking is generous overall. Make sure you practice!
MTH 700 is an advanced course with a great textbook and a tutorial. The lectures provide proper guidance for the material but you have to work hard to keep up with the material
He's a decent dude, but is very unorganized. Started the course well but quickly started going on confusing tangents and not writing the corresponding textbook section. Practically no examples in class, which for a course like this made it extremely difficult to grasp. Had to learn the whole course from the textbook.
Course is a lot more difficult than it should be. He just writes theorems and definitions for the whole lecture with literally no examples. Tons of homework questions with no solutions and expects you to do them on your own which is difficult because he doesn't do examples. Exams were brutal because the preparation is nothing like the actual test.
He'll explain concepts multiple times if you don't get it but he didn't start using examples until the second half of the semester. Doesn't provide answers or solutions to all the homework questions. Tests are pretty hard.
Even if you do every question he assigns and thoroughly understand them all you will find the tests difficult. He seems to pick the hardest possible type of question, and make it as hard as he possibly can. Tests do not reflect the homework of the material in class... they represent a difficult extension of the coursework.
His lectures are seemingly irrelevant (a.k.a. they don't help with the questions on tests or assignments). He expects us to know a lot more than we do & tests are not a reflection of the course material. Avg was low on midterm & no bell curve--he just told everyone who failed to drop the course--IMO, this is not a good characteristic for a prof.
