106,Doesn't take criticism well takes it personal if you say you don't understand the material. He's kind of rude and not friendly. The way he teaches takes getting used to as he doesn't go into much detail about the basics and assumes you know stuff already which is annoying since he is teaching a beginner coding class Labs are way harder than 109
Professor Jake is the absolute goat, made my CPS106 experience so much better. I joined computer science with 0% experience in coding and now I'm so proud with the progress I've done. I don't think I would've survived if it wasn't for him. It is sad seeing him retire from his position in Toronto Metropolitan.
Jake is a fair professor, and he tries his best to make difficult material like cryptography easy to understand for your average student. The catch of this class is that cryptography just isn't an easy subject, take time to digest the material and use your googlefu. The plus side of this class is that while it is difficult, coursework is limited.
He's a great prof that knows his stuff. His lectures are good but you also need to read the textbook. I failed but that was because I was a waste yute, not cause the course was hard or the prof was bad. Do the assignments on time and you'll do well.
