Amazing professor. Explained everything in a very light and interesting format. Tried incorporating a lot of interesting things and Easter eggs. Has weekly lab quizzes, which help understand the material better. Also, 3 assignments that take a bit of time, but aren't that tough. Midterm and final weren't too hard except for trying to finish on time
Great professor that takes time to teach the lecture. Records said lectures and uploading them at a later date. Homework and assignments are quite tricky but doable. Course content is kind of stale and less of what student think of what artificial intelligence is. Overall, take him if he is available or even just waitlist into that course/section.
He has amazing lectures that goes through the concept in clear way and immediately demonstrates with practice problems. Slides are loose on words and mostly focused on practice problems but his lectures were recorded and you can supplement with the textbook for more in-depth explanations.
Rick was a knowledgeable but tough professor who explained material clearly in lectures. However, the course was extremely difficult. The midterm and final used selection-style multiple-choice questions, making them harder. Exams covered too much material in very limited time, and he strictly enforced the 50% over mid/final.
I found the class to be a bit too domain specific without much generalization to allow the knowledge taught to be easily transferable. Also a lot of the course had to do with Prolog execution, logic, etc. In saying this, I believe Professor Rick Valenzano is very fair in that he provides you the tools to be successful in this class, thus 5/5.
This course isn't the easiest, but I found prof Valenzano's lectures to be very engaging, he's able to make difficult concepts more digestible and even fun to learn. You can tell he cares that his students actually understand the material. The course is very well organized with clear grading criteria and he posts his lectures online.
Very nice and caring professor. He posts his lectures afterwards, and has an hybrid teaching style. He sometimes uses slides, sometimes he actually codes. Very good teacher, good marker he is one of the better department professors. He is top 3, with only Ufkes and Preeti Raman being better for first year. He is a hidden gem, will get more 5* fs.
Amazing prof, posts lecture recordings, responds to emails decently quick. He's super nice and just wants you to learn. everyone did horrible on the final so Rick curved the exam grades. As long as you can do the labs on your own & understand the slides, you almost don't even need the lectures (coming from someone who has never done java before)
Very clear what you're being graded on, boosted our mark by making our nesters the same mark as our final if we did better on the final. He also records his lectures which are very good.
Attend the classes, and you will pass with satisfying grade. Don't be afraid to ask, he is very helpful and friendly. Do all the practices from group assignments, labs, and sample exams, and you can pass your exam tests. The only bad thing I found from this class is the highly complicated group assignments, which is probably common for CS courses.
