Andrea is one of the best professors that TMU's journalism program has to offer. She is so knowledgeable and provides so many resources for students to deepen their knowledge of LGBTQ history. She gives engaging lectures and invites guest speakers who truly deepen the understanding of the topic that she is teaching on. A definite recommend.
Attendance for lectures isn't mandatory, but you will do poorly on the weekly quizzes if you don't do the readings or attend lecture. Though, the readings and lectures are fairly straight forward. She's a millennial, take that how you will.
You should definitely take this class with her. No matter what your major is, you will get something out of the course. Also, Andrea is a very sweet person who will do everything she can to ensure you do well. There are opportunities to increase your mark through participation.
Her lectures are very long, but you don't really have to listen to them to pass the class. Her assignments are super easy and so are her quizzes. She is very caring and is flexible if you need help. As long as you participate in discussions every now and then, you'll be fine
best prof i've ever had. as someone who had no idea about anything news-related, the course was not difficult at all. it isn't as demanding and she makes the material interesting by relating it to current issues. prof. houston is passionate and sets you up to succeed. take this class with her if you have the chance! its is a gpa booster for sure.
