I took a new course she developed, and she's amazing. Not only is she kind, personable and empathetic, but she has a passion for what she is teaching. Her lectures are engaging, and interesting and the stuff she teaches just feels relevant. Too bad I'm not an English student because I would love to be in her class again.
Lee-Loy is one of my fav profs! The course itself is difficult and requires a lot of reading, and if you want to do well on assignments you have to have a really good understanding of the readings, but Lee-Loy is super helpful in making sure you understand. Assignments are straight-forward and you can write about topics you're interested in.
Professor Lee Loy is a great teacher, lecturer and communicator. She does have stricter expectations when it comes to English students but I think that's fair given that she teaches upper year courses. If you take your degree seriously then you'll enjoy her classes, if you're looking for an easy mark than you probably shouldn't take her class
An overall great prof and respected within the faculty. She does assign lots of readings which all class discussions are based upon and participation does matter. Her marking was fair. She genuinely wants her students to do well but does like to see the effort.
I have had this Professor Lee-loy many times and each time I love her more and more. Yes, there is a lot of reading for her classes but she picks such amazing reads that I don't mind at all! Usually I finish reading all of them really quickly. She really cares about making things very interesting.
This professor is ok, she is nice and intelligent. Be prepared to read though. She expects a novel to be read each week, as well as readings from her post-colonial reader and then she also posts additional readings. When you have four other classes, the readings stack up and become unbearable. Topics are not in depth but feel rushed as a result.
She's a good professor. However, the amount of readings it almost ridiculous. It makes it difficult to really engage with the text if we move through them at lightning speed. With how the class is structured, I feel like we glaze over topics.
One of my favourite professors thus far at Ryerson. She tries to really prepare students for their future work in both academics and the work place. Would definitely take another class with her!
Professor Lee-Loy is a good overall. The course focused a lot of poetry and post-colonialism and got a bit repetitive at times. The lectures were decent. She is a very pleasant and nice person, and marks relatively easy. If you find yourself in her class, yes it may be boring sometimes but I'd still keep it.
