She made the course mainly on concepts about racism and political issues rather than broader topics of communication and social media. She also has random TA's marking the assignments and they are purposely grading them really hard so it lowers ur overall grade in the course. I would not recommend taking this course if you want to boost ur GPA.
The prof is well versed in her field, the problem comes from the fact that she does not teach any content related to communications. The course focuses heavily on racial theory and social justice, and completely omits any practical knowledge in communications through social media. The course is entirely analysis of racial issues online, not useful.
Poorly organized and frustrating. Readings are not accessible. Communication is difficult, and the GA's contact info isn't provided. Fast, proctored tests feel unreasonable given the heavy content. Assignments and expectations are inconsistent, and due dates don't always match. Overall, the course needs much better organization and clarity.
Honestly just had a hard time trying to understand the subject matter. It didn't seem as though the course was even about social media half of the time.
Honestly the worst class with no real intentions, she only tried to talk mainly about certain things which seemed weird. was no help, worst professor ever. seems like her goal is to make everyone fail a course, it's a communications course but i promise u ur better off with a engineering course as this is gonna be ur gpa dropper
Every week came with huge readings that felt less like academic material and more like the prof pushing her own political beliefs. The course was dominated by a far-left/Marxist agenda, I actually started looking forward to seeing what BS would show up next. Regardless of your politics, this is completely unacceptable for a university course.
The Social Media course was very information heavy and did not go into much detail about Social Media more based on theories. The quizzes and midterm exam has respondus, which I understand limiting people cheating, but goes towards the idea of digital autonomy and I am unable to see what questions I answered wrong. The course was very poorly done.
Fully Asyncronous couse but never responded to the email and had unclear assignment discriptions.
Really unclear discussions and instructions on assignments. Rubrics aren't really useful, as she asks for other things that aren't the main point of the context of what we're learning. She asks for more references and wants different formatting for papers and essays that are assessable for her, but weren't ever written down or put into the rubric.
The given material and curriculum is very leftist/marxist circulated, leaving little-to-no room for diverse exploration in ideology and the means to the course to expand our knowledge. Week 5 is purely based on right-wing extremism, completely disregarding other perspectives and political stances. God bless her, I hope this changes in the future.
