i think if she was teaching high school shed be great but forcing participation at 8 am and then refusing to move on when no one wants to talk made me dread this class because it was dragging it out entirely too much. would do way better in a high school / junior high environment as opposed to a university 8 am. also her marking was...questionable?
shes so average! her participation does matter, and if you don't have an answer, she WON'T move past you until you give her an answer. super picky with her work and what she did and didn't like. she's also huge on group work for no reason.
Tasala is a genuine prof but I don't think teaching at the uni level is for her. She's very big on participation and she won't move on until one or sometimes even multiple people participate. It gets very annoying fast especially at 8am. She takes forever to grade making her feedback pointless. I unfortunately wouldn't recommend her
very average prof. tries to be engaging with her class, but it being an 8 AM does not help. and she DEEPLY cares about participation and wont move on until someone says something. But she does grade very well and will let you know where to improve
if you're an introvert, good luck. very big on participation in class and once refused to move on from a slide bc no one had anything to say. ofc participation is important but this is an 8 am. no one wants to talk. she will also pick on you to talk if its quiet. the class itself wasn't difficult by any means, but felt a little high school-ish.
Tasala is a great person. She cares deeply for all of her students and wants to see them succeed. She knows her stuff and really helps you learn. She does, however, take a long time to grade assignments. She can be a tough marker, but her feedback is always detailed with exactly what it takes to improve. She is a first-rate person!
Tasala is great person who will genuinely care if you have an issue with an assignment or a reading. She makes class fun. As a person Tasala is great however as a professor is where she lacks. She takes forever to grade assignments (over two months for an article to be marked), her feedback can be quite vague especially when you don't do well.
Tasala creates a great class environment where everyone felt truly accepted and open to sharing. However, as a Journalism prof she lacks experience, having really only worked in PR and on TMU-based sports media. While she is open to learning about new concepts, it can be difficult to bridge these gaps.
I could go o forever about Tasala, she is not only an amazing prof, but a phenomenal person. Always responds to emails, questions, or anything else. She also provides great feedback and is extremely clear with what she wants and when she wants it (flexible with dates as well). T-money is a top class prof would recommend her to anyone and everyone.
