He helped me learn ASL, his best interest is for us to learn and practice no matter if we make mistakes. He totally recommends face to face class because of communication for him and other students, again the PRACTICE of using your hands to communicate. I totally recommend him.
Worst teacher to have while learning ASL. He is very strict on his grading and does not favor student learning. I do not know how he even has a career in education.
Stephan always made the class so much fun. I have never in my life written one of these but for Stephan I am. He is a very bubbly professor and always wants to make everyone laugh. He is teaching ASL 2 next year and I couldn't wait to sign up to have him again as a professor 10/10 recommend him!
Stephan is literally a gem. Choose him if you're taking ASL101. He was super friendly, welcoming, and a good teacher. He takes his time and helps you master signs. Although there's a bunch of evaluations for the course, he explains things in-depth to really help you prepare well for them. Would def take him again.
He's a very kind professor! He's very passionate about ASL & wants that his students succeed. I took ASL as an elective but there is a lot of work that goes into it. It's worth it in the end. There is textbook use and videos you have to follow on dawnsign which costs money. The gum story and partner dialogue are worth the most (20% & 20%).
