asked me for a reference for her to get some dean award, ask her for a reference and she harshly declined soc 490 was a disaster to say the least, the way the course outline was adjusted mid sem bc reece didnt know what she was doing not to menion her obsession w abaolition also she called some dude out day one bc he wanted to be a cop

Her course was so disorganized and was being put together as the semester progressed. She seems very stubborn in her abolitionist framework that anything remotely challenging it would be called out. She called out a student on the day 1 who wanted to be a cop. She also had foreigners guest lecture about their irrelevant project, wasting our time

Very rude, unaccommodating and has a superiority complex when dealing with students. Shows no respect to her students, yet expects students to treat her like a god. I'd rate 0/10. The TAs act as if they worship her cuz they're scared. She discriminates against students and even called a girl out on the first day of class THE WHOLE COURSE WAS A MESS

went out of my way to help her throughout the sem, in turn asked for a reference letter she was very rude very harsh, absolutely don't recommend a warning to all future students don't take the mf course

I believe this is her first time teaching SOC490 and it shows. This class is a mess. Compared to peers who took this class last year with a different professor, it sounds completely different. The pacing of this class has been a nightmare. It seems like Dr Reece and her TAs are figuring it out as they go, which is not ideal for students.

Dr. Reece is a tough and confusing grader. She gives grades back late with limited feedback. Assignment requirements may differ from the syllabus and are only discussed in person, adding to the confusion. Despite this, she is a great lecturer, and while grading is brutal and can change after marks are released, she won't fail you, so there's that.

Attendance is a must for Dr. Reece. You must attend every lecture as that is where the tutorial assignments come from and you cannot repeat tutorials if you miss the class. The comments are very accurate as she is SUPER liberal and it can be difficult to do well if you don't hold the same views as she does,especially for grading. Nice prof though.

she's def caring but she also marks really hard. her instructions are vague for assignments and then she keeps adding new instructions or expects more which she'll tell you during tutorials. So if you don't attend, you miss out on that.

Worst professor I had. She is very rude and condescending. And she grades assignments extremely hard.

She taught some of the most insightful and eye-opening lectures that I've ever been in. Tricky with grading; the rubrics were not very clear and she was very particular about the language used. Nonetheless, no regrets taking this class because of how much I enjoyed the content.
