Justin Rain

Professor Rain is an amazing professor. I had an amazing experience taking POG110 with him and he is very passionate about what he teaches. He gave us so much insight into essay writing and how to be successful in university. It is so evident that he cares about his student's well-being and success. I couldn't recommend Professor Rain more.

He is an alright professor. Needs to explain his assignments and tests better, as it lacked details but he was super passionate about what he did.

I want to take all of my classes with this prof. He makes his lectures SO interesting! I loved his style of including the class in discussions. There was no midterm, only a take home final (25%), a straightforward policy brief (40%), tutorial attendance (15%), and a 10 min tutorial presentation (20%). You do not need the textbook.

I took this class not being a political studies student, it was very interesting and easy to understand. He posted the slides online so lectures aren't mandatory but tutorials you definitely need to be at, they were very easy tho. Class was made up of 4 large papers, they weren't hard but don't leave to last min My final grade was a 77

He is really passionate and a great lecturer! Note that there is no midterm and there is an essay worth 40%, so definitely take it seriously. I found that his grading on this assignment was not necessarily "easy," but more based on what you deserve/how much effort you truly put into it. Amazing prof, definitely recommend! :)

Really great prof!! His lectures are really informative and his lectures don't usually last the full 2 hours. There is also no midterm but the assignment is worth 40% of your grade, so it's best if you start as early as possible. The final is really easy if you go to majority of the lectures.

Doctor rain had really good informative lectures. Learned so much and it was not too boring. We had a few papers due however it was at a good pace. Tutorials were also nice. Assignments are graded pretty quick sometimes by him or the ta's. Easy to reach him by email! Definitely recommend!!!

i slacked off in this course and still managed to get a pretty decent mark, this implies that the class is quite easy. one thing i like about this prof is that he tries to keep the class engaged and does mock parliament? activities that keep everyone awake during an early class. i really respect the effort!

I had Justin for POG 210 and was one of the tutorial leaders in POG 235. He is an incredible person, not just as a professor or TA. He keeps you engaged even in an 8 am lecture. It is so sad he is leaving TMU, but keep this in mind for anyone with him in the future.

Great instructor, open to talking with students and an overall approachable guy. He tries his best when it comes to helping students and explaining away any worries that can arise. He is very fair in the difficulty of his syllabus with a reasonable course load.
