I didn't enjoy this class and a lot of that has to do with the hybrid system as well as the marking criteria. TAs in this course consistently dock marks over arbitrary reasons, reasons that are not outlined in the rubric. I know several people who were blindsided and got really poor grades as a result. The expectations are both vague and baffling.
Don't be fooled by the token redeem option in this course. Equity is not in her vocabulary. I got 90's in every assignment, but because I missed some of the tutorials, she took 15% off my grade for lack of participation. It doesn't say they're mandatory, but you'll pay if you miss it.
Almost done with her class! I wish I'd been more consistent with lectures/tutorials. I enjoyed it, even though rarely does a course outside my passions engage me. The instructional design is innovative. She is responsive and flexible with emails, extensions, & late work. She even responds on weekends. Truly an exceptional & meticulous professor :)
SHES SO CARING AND KIND OMG the cutest sweet lady and after emailing about mental health struggles she made sure to check up on me and get me through the course. Bird course legit pass/fail per thing, for a pass u just need to check off min amount of things on the rubric. So so chill, just need to pass/do enough things for a specific final grade.
Her grading criteria was wild. You either passed or failed assignments. Between the weekly readings, weekly quizzes, in class assignments, reflections, it can easily feel like you're drowning. The Academic Assistant was also extremely picky with grading.
this lady has the most absurd grading criteria. participation negates any marks received on actual assignments making your effort towards your work virtually useless unless you're able to attend every class. the participation work is unnecessarily lengthy while the actual assignments lack depth and course application.
Took the last fall of 2024, attendance is very important. Her grading system is a bit tough if you have a heavy courseload, a job or any personal issues. It doesn't accommodate these, as most of the grade evaluations are based on in-class/in-person assignments. Aside from that, the assignments and lectures are engaging and very easy.
She had a different marking system from your standard one but she was an easy marker. Her recorded lecture's and slides were straight to the point and easy to understand. Accommodating to redo assignments and submit things later. Discussion post topics were actually pretty interesting to do as well.
CMN 100: Very, very lovely person. Class was graded on a pass/fail basis - where if enough components of the criteria aren't checked off, you literally fail the assignment. Was the weirdest grading thing i've ever had in my entire life and caused a ridiculous amount of stress. Didn't feel like it helped me learn more in any way either.
