Mojca is a great prof, one of the best in second semester! I didn't expect to enjoy genetics! Her lectures are quite organized, they can be confusing at times. The tutorials are quite easy, and helpful for midterm practice. Midterm 1 was a breeze, and midterm 2 really hit ppl. Very important to stay on top of things esp towards the end of the sem.
Very nice teacher, she spoke so fast that it made it difficult to understand/comprehend everything. She does curve, which is super nice, a bonus on most exams on top of the 2.5% you get from participating in tutorials. She does post practice problems and such that are similar to the exam, which is super helpful. Hard course, but definitely doable.
Really well organized, curves tests significantly, bonus marks from tutorials. The course is not the easiest and I know some people say her teaching isn't the greatest but I personally found it to be pretty good. The practice problems she provides are the real way to learn and do well in the course.
She is the most organized prof I've ever had. She breaks down assignment guidelines by step so you know EXACTLY what to do. Content-wise, VERY straightforward; you know it, or you don't. All the material is given, but you NEED to study it. The lab reports/quizzes forces your to review throughout the semester, making the final not a lot of content.
The final exam was very fair if you studied the lab notes and tutorials. The final was way better than the BLG400 final. Mattiazzi is very nice but her slides are a bit hard to follow as they are very dense and she sometimes doesn't explain topics very well but she does provide the foundation so it's on you to further self study to fully grasp it
I got brutally touched by the final (L me for not really studying her slides or doing her practice) but she is definitely very straightforward on her exams more than assignments and she was very accommodating so props to chief Mattiazi
I think the biggest flaw in this course is the way it is taught. She is a very academically advanced professor and is well-knowledgeable in her field, but is unable to have the teaching and presentation methods of a successful teacher. Slides and laboratory notes are disorganized. Very challenging when the course is already content-heavy enough.
She's a very nice person, but not a good teacher as other ppl say. The course has gotten much harder than previous years and quizzes were okay, but needed next-level studying to clutch 100s. Also, your grade relies on your TA a lot, but then Dr. Mojca comes in and REGRADES LAB REPORTS herself much stricter with no comments. Dreading the final tbh.
She is really nice but a bad teacher.
I love professor Mattiazzi for genetics but she redid this course and why is everything difficult now 😭 The lab reports and quizzes are in-person during the labs (no phones or laptops allowed) and they are NOT straight forward. Like you need deep understanding to do well on the quizzes and reports. I wish it was take home like it used to be.
