Catherine Gaughan

I have taken several courses with this professor, simply because she is phenomenal at her job! Throughout the 4 courses, she has always created a welcoming environment, been super understanding and most importantly made the material super digestable. I would highly recommend this professor for any class she teaches!

She is great

I thoroughly enjoyed having Mme Gaughan for FRE601. She provided engaging lectures, and delivered the content in a very digestable way. She cares for all of her students, and her grading criteria is not overly difficult. There are also lots of opportunities for marking. Hope to have her in the future!

Took CFRE101 in the spring with Dr. Gaughan and she made learning french so much fun! We spent most of our time repeating after her to learn new vocab and improve pronunciation. The listening and online tests are fair if you participate in class. Textbook homework is crucial as questions from the homework appear on tests! Overall super sweet prof!

It was a 6-weeks course in the Spring, so everything was quite fast and the materials feels a lot. However, the prof is very helpful and caring. She definitely knew that most students are not that familiar with French language, especially since it is 101. She wants you to be engaging or active all the time so that your French can be better.

She's honestly the BEST prof in the French department at TMU!! Highly recommend her if you're taking FRE201 AND 101. She has a passion for teaching French and her lectures are super engaging and you'll never get bored participating in her class. Take

Loved her. She was very kind, patient, and graded based on your overall knowledge of the language rather than small nitpicky things. She does have a tendency to call on people so get comfortable with participation. Sometimes she has really funny and random things on the slides lol. Overall 10/10 highly recommend taking her for 201.

Very wonderful and kind professor. I took this class to sharpen up my French since I haven't practiced in awhile. The content is pretty easy to manage, though you may need the textbook as she refers to it a lot. There are times where she does have favourites in the class, but that's purely due to frequent participation. Great course overall
