I took high school french and FRE 101 and I still found it difficult and daunting. good luck
Rather hard class for me bc I didn't take high school French and she speaks 95% in it. But she's very patient, laid back and professional. Can crack a good subtle joke. Homework every week but manageable amount and meant to help you. Coursework broken down to many smaller assessments. Oral participation in lectures and breakout rooms are big marks.
She is kind and funny. I really liked the class, but she does assign homework. I was in her class on Winter 2020 so the last classes were online and that is when it got difficult but not because of her bc learning languages online is time consuming and had to submit quizzes and compositions more often.
Must show up cuz participation is a big mark. Great lectures like highschool french u learn a lot convient office hours and responds to emails quickly and is open to extra help. I felt she acc cared about her students. This course may be hard if ur New to learning French or poor background knowledge as she moves kinda fast.
Super sweet professor! I learned a lot from her and really enjoyed going to class as it was very interactive. Do your homework and participate and you should do well.
You will have to go to class and put in the work to get a good grade. She talks pretty much just French, but it helps us learn. Lots of small assignments. She will call on you in class but participation is a big part of the overall grade.
Marie-Catherine is a good professor. However, if you did not take French before FRE101 you may struggle. As she speaks french most of the time, her speed is normal not too fast however, you do need to go to class 50% participation. There is homework every day, similar to highschool french if you took it. I would say chill if you put the work in.
She assumes students who just finished FRE101 (Read alphabets, count numbers, learn simple conversations) can understand FULL FRENCH LECTURES. When asking her to speak English at least when teaching Grammar, she answers she will speak French slowly??? She calls out students to answer her questions randomly in class. The final is an Oral Exam.
