Dr. Dawn's class has been really frustrating. The instructions are often unclear and all over the place, and extremely rude to students and preceptors. Things feel more complicated than they need to be.
i tried to give her the benefit of the doubt when i read these reviews but found her difficult to communicate with and very unclear regarding her expectations, and somehow its our fault when we can't read minds. strict marker. just count down the days and hope you get a new FA next time (but you're probably still stuck with her)
not only do u get passive aggressiveness and sometimes full on aggressiveness you also get extra unmarked presentations!!! that no other FA groups have. if u get her try to change profs and if u cant pray cus this class was like unneedlessly stressful!
In my four years at this university, I've never struggled with liking and communicating with a professor until this course. Her teaching style felt discouraging, she belittled everyone with frequent passive-aggressive comments which made it hard to feel confident or engaged in such a hard year. Student input was not feel welcomed in conference.
I hope Dr. Dawn reads this. You were not professional. You have misconceptions that you have led many nurses on the right path. Unfortunately you have just made their lives a little bit more miserable in this course. You should discuss more about the actual assignments rather than proving the class of how great you are. Thank you.
Extremely rude and unprofessional. Refuses to take accountability for any mistakes and turns it back on the student. Replies passive aggressively to simple questions asked clarifying her very unclear assignment guidelines or ignores students altogether. She is making this course so much harder than it needs to be.
Dr. Dawn is actually a very nice F.A. TMU just has a lot of entitled nursing students who think the world should revolve around them. Dr. Bascombe does not tolerate disrespect (nobody does?!) She is caring and ready to support students through their clinical practice. She does not call you out to participate but try to participate. it is helpful.
She's great. Ignore the other ratings, just entitled students who think they can miss clinicals and not make up the hours.
I had Dawn for 2 years. During my third year, I was NOT a fan. I found her rude, and uncaring. But all changed in 4th year. There are many things I would change about how she responds to emails or runs the class; but at the end of it all, she cares about her students a lot, sees their potential, and wants them to aim for bigger things.
Dr. Dawn is intense and will catch you off guard. She plays devils adovcate which can come off as abrasive and rude. Keep your head down, try not to be stressed by her intensely long emails (aka no line breaks), know the syllabus, learn to communicate with people who refuse to accept being wrong. She will use your pronouns though so that's nice.
