Weekly quizzes so attendance is mandatory, picks on students in class even when they are uncomfortable.
Donna definitely deserves a high rating here!! The way she teaches makes it very engaging, and the quizzes were straightforward (mostly from the readings). She even cares about her students a lot, which I admire. She picks out people sometimes from here and there. Overall, she has to be one of my favourite professors I've ever taken with!! :)
Donna's expectations & grading are fair. Her "picking on" students is just asking questions to ensure everyone understands. The weekly quizzes are easy if you do the readings (no trick questions, straight from the reading/lecture). Lectures are engaging, she's great at teaching/explaining new concepts, & she clearly cares about her students.
I think she deserves a higher rating! She is a caring prof and cares about her students. When diving into deep topics, she stops and asks if we are okay. Very kind lady and her lectures are very helpful. Although there are weekly quizzes, the readings are manageable and the quizzes are pretty easy. She is good at explaining and passionate.
We get weekly quizzes based on the lectures and readings. Make sure to do the readings before class, as she will likely pick on you in class and ask about them. At the end of the semester, she lets us pick whether we want to do an assignment or an exam. I picked the assignment, and she was such a hard grader. I'd avoid her if I could.
Does not care about students. Cannot teach. Worst ever.
I found Donna's expectations for the students to be fair - attendance and participation are mandatory and she typically has a weekly quiz based on weekly readings. This helped me get a solid understanding of the course content and I felt well prepared for the final exam. Grade is based on quizzes, final exams, and participation. No assignments.
Despite my poor grade because of the lack of my attendance. Donna really does care about her students I have experienced it first hand.
This class is all about social and emotional well-being, but Donna does not seem to care about her students' well-being. Donna's a tough grader and barely gives helpful feedback as to how we can improve. If you're normally quiet in class, prepare to be called out because she's all about participation. Worst class ever.
