Very harsh professor with little classroom management or knowledge of the topic. His lectures were inspired by his political views and “just trust me bro”. Never imagined I'd hear a prof asking for “buzz words” and telling us to be more woke, but here we are
He was one of the worst professors I've had. The class was very disorganized, and even though attendance was mandatory and I showed up, I didn't learn anything from him. He was weeks behind on lectures and every class he would pair students up and making them explain the readings instead of teaching us?
He seriously needs to change his ways of teaching and the grading breakdown he has. Not accommodating to students whatsoever and just rude. Will last minute change things.
His grading is the worst
For many students this was our first time engaging deeply with Indigenous culture including learning new terminology and concepts. Instead it felt like we were expected to memorize specific terms particularly for the final exam. Given that we only had a 4 months to learn this material allowing a limited cheat sheet would've been more reasonable.
I usually take negative reviews lightly, but I wish I hadn't. Class felt self-taught, as the prof was always unprepared. Attendance was mandatory (he said absences would be “punished”), yet there were no real lectures, just him making students summarize readings every single week. A bizarre and strangely authoritative experience. So disappointing.
He tries to come off really nice but it is clear in his grading/marking breakdown that it is completely performative. Very passive aggressive and disorganized. Avoid.
He is very passionate, but he is SO condescending. Will take marks off for no reason. His reasoning is "I don't like it". Save yourself and RUN!
The professor is nice and very energetic however, the way he set up the class is not student friendly. For instance 16% of the grade is from daily quizzes and 19% is from attendance and active participation. Inorder for you to get access to the quizzes u have to attend the class or else u miss out on marks for both the quizzes and attendance.
While he's charismatic, he set absurd rules. Points deducted for being late to his class, weekly quizzes that are heavily graded and scrutinized, and he also is a language professor, not a criminology professor so go figure lol
