All this professor cares about is AI. Not accessible outside of class. Avoid at all costs.
The professor is so difficult to reach, and the number of assignments is just unrealistic to expect to be completed, on top of weekly quizzes and readings. If you dislike group work, you will hate this class.
So Owias at points was difficult to deal with - could be a bit defensive when it was pointed out there were heavy/unreasonable expectations. With 30 assignments retention of concepts is low and it feels more like a business/social work bootcamp. That being said, he made exceptional strides when things were pointed out and adapted his demands.
This was already a bad class, but Owais definitely did not make it better. He is VERY hard to reach, accidentally marks things wrong all the time, and this is coming from someone who never had the displeasure of even talking to him irl. Also lashed out on students for critiquing the amount of assignments that were assigned to us (27 btw!).
Expectations are made clear, honestly had a great time with my group members in this class. However the execution of the course feels disorganized and it's a lot to keep track of, especially if your group ends up being a dud. If you're able to work on things with your group members online, attendance isn't necessary.
CSE100 completely relies on AI, our assignments were created and mark by AI. The professor was difficult to reach throughout the term and often acted as though responding to emails was a chore. I received a poor mark even after receiving 100% and its equivalent which was 'complete' on every assignment. I'd never encourage anyone to take this class.
Owais is not a bad prof and this class is rly beneficial but it's clear there were lots of things that could have been done differently. There was lots of homework on top of inclass group work, weekly quizzes and the final project was only graded on the planning, not it's actual execution. Sucks when you acc put effort into it.
AI created course which requires students to use AI for coursework which is then graded by AI.
He created a course entirely through AI. Wicked problems is by far the worst course I have ever had to endure. Instructions are very unclear, groups were terribly managed, the prof was very disrespectful and very unfair. The only redeeming quality is that it is over. Do not take this course if you don't have to.
In the spirit of Professor Lightwala's teaching methods, here are some thoughts. Artificial teaching warrants a fitting response. The course is structured and efficient, but it lacks depth and genuine engagement. When lessons feel generated rather than crafted, the learning experience becomes more processed than personal.
