Alexandra Perlin

Had her for two courses, fashion illustration and emerging media, with a C in the first and an A+ in the second. She was always kind, gave meaningful feedback to me, and expressed genuine excitement at my projects and ideas. I had a very positive experience with her, and I am shocked at all the negative ratings here. She was awesome, good prof.

I feel bad cause she seemed so nice at the start but it went downhill fast. She doesn't like being emailed and takes forever to respond, doesn't explain why you got the mark you got, SUCH a hard marker for what. Will expect you to learn photoshop/illustrator after a single (horribly explained) demo, then assign a project worth 30% of your grade!

I absolutely DO NOT recommend Prof Perlin for any class. Her attitude towards her students is just... odd. She makes fun of previous students work and her commentary on process work comes off very judgmental for no reason. She makes the classroom environment so hostile and it's incredibly discouraging.

Does not want students to succeed in her class. She is an incredibly awful grader and gives little to no feedback as to why you received the grade you got. On the first day of class as she was going through the syllabus, she found several mistakes with due dates and assignment instructions that she said she would "fix" when it came time to fix it.

My experience with Ms. Perlin was disappointing. She showed little respect or empathy, taught only basic Photoshop skills (e.g., saving files), and used outdated tutorials. Grading was harsh with no feedback, and she discouraged emails, leaving students unsupported. Her dismissive attitude created a hostile learning environment. Avoid her classes.

I'm pretty confident with my work but she is just a really hard marker. No one in my class got anything above a C. She expects people to follow through her demos that go by way too fast and she doesn't teach much. Expects everyone to know everything about illustrator straight from the bat even though this is a beginner course. Horrible prof. 0/10!!

super disorganized, vague instructions and a tough grader. most of her "teaching" was just links to out of date YouTube videos. don't recommend at all.

Very harsh grader, it was impossible to get a good grade from her. Her feedback was also very vague.
