Owen Lyons

He's nice and the lectures are average. I wish he showed more interesting films/clips though, as it wasn't as engaging for me. The group project made me almost hate this class though.

Super easygoing prof who makes class fun. The weekly quizzes and papers were light work, but the midterm was definitely more difficult in comparison.

Owen is amazing! Really nice, knowledgeable and caring. But there is a lot of reading in this course but not too many assignments. Enjoyed it.

Wonderful prof. Rare balance of being super knowledgeable and kind/considerate. Gives space to participate if you want to. No matter how much you already know about film, he'll keep it engaging and tie in interesting examples. Not an overly difficult/heavy workload beyond the textbook and weekly screenings.

The class would have been better if it was 100% online with no classes. He likes to state the obvious. Advice for U, show up for the first 4 classes to understand the concept to put in your essay and the rest of the classes are fillers such as the examples from the different eras which you can literally just skim through if you look at the slides.

He's a really nice guy and a great prof. Super knowledgable, kind, and passionate. His class is fair, and you can tell he just wants to open a conversation about film and teach students the things that he loves! Definitely take him if you get a chance - I learnt a lot

One of the most laid back, interesting classes that I had to take in my semester. His course material and lectures were fun to do and were a breeze. Youll pass as long as you do the bare necessities such as showing up and handing in all your assignments in time, with effort of course! RTA180 was a great, fun class.

Overall he is a great professor, easy material and he really helps you understand concepts easily.

Awesome professor! You can tell he is very knowledgeable about the topics. He made class fun and was engaging with his students. Everything was based on a midterm exam, one weekly question assignment each week and a final group project. I enjoyed coming to class as the movies were always interesting, I learned alot. Would take this prof again!

Great prof! His lectures are great and you can tell he is passionate about the topics he is teaching. He initiates great conversation but doesn't require participation in class. Grades are based on a midterm, final essay, and weekly textbook quizzes but all instructions are clear and fair. Really enjoyed his class, and I loved the films we watched!
