Gave me 1 day to meet with her or else she couldnt see me till the next year to discuss my grade and she was non-empathetic. Lectures were boring as she just read off the slides. You don't have to attend class but you must submit a paper grading yourself if you arent in a group apparently (not in outline). Exams and midterm were easy though!
She was very passionate about the material but classes were often boring. Powerpoints were sometimes difficult to follow. Group work in every class to fill out booklets even though the info was in the slides. Only needed textbook for 3, one page assignments. Exams were straight forward and easy if you study the slides and booklets.
Attendance is mandatory. However, I find the exams quite straightforward and you will get a good mark by studying her powerpoints and the printouts every week. Less slides than the average prof. Textbook use is only for the assignment, otherwise I didn't study textbook at all and got an A on midterm
Elaine is a great professor, she is very passionate and knowledgeable about the topics taught. She may seem hard to approach but do not let that fool you. I recommend active participation. She is a tough & fair grader, her tests are easy as long as you read her assigned articles and follow through with the assigned group work sheets in each class.
It is clear that Elaine is passionate about this topic. The material, however, was not presented in a way that made it appealing to students. I found her lectures to be boring and difficult to pay attention to. Group work every class that she collects at the end of the semester so you have to go to class. Not helpful when you need clarification
I give Elain credit for her knowledge on Children with Special Needs and you can tell she's very passionate about what she does. However I personally do not think she's the greatest prof; the readings will sometimes relate to the lectures, and her tests are pretty hard. Prepare to read and actually pay attention in class.
She is okay but her lecture is very confusing. She give us in class activities but it kind of you have to guess her point. Her power point is only points with no illustration (mostly) and you have to read to book and guess what, she might have something not in the book or any where with little explanation on her notes. Oh God, It is realy confusing
With printouts of her power points, she tends to read off slides most of the time and her lectures does not engage student to participate. She often talks about her achievements in life during class.
elaine provides useful information but gives no midterm or exam review (just says 'study everything') and focuses on random information making her tests impossible to study for. she also gives no essay outline and makes the TA mark it. its not hard to pass but involves alot of studying and guesswork. also assigns the most tedious group project.
her exams are not on textbook materials and her assignments have no guidlines and she is not helpful. She also doesnt post her notes online so you are FORCED to go to class.
