Kiana Basiri

She's not too bad. Fairly easy marker, her classes just have a lot of assignments + quizzes, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it can just get tedious. She's lowkey not the best at teaching or class engagement, but the content she teaches isn't the hardest to grasp on your own at home.

I would say Kiana is above average for the REM department. The course is designed in a way that is fair to students, and she generally takes a very standard approach to teaching. Her lectures can be slightly boring, but she knows her stuff and overall is very solid. I would suggest taking her over some of the other brutal REM options.

Professor Basiri is great! She is very fair and provides clear grading expectations. Her/TA mark a little tough, but it is very achievable to get an A in the course. Her lectures are good, unfortunately I had an 8 am section so the class had low attendance but she does a good job explaining concepts. Overall I would highly recommend her as a prof

she doesn't set you up for success when it comes to assignments, she seems proud about how difficult they will be. the lectures are not very engaging.

Had her for Rem 520 and I have her for REM 700 now. She does not explain well and the classes are long for no reason and not engaging. It's hard for her to get to the point and doesn't know how to teach and explain material. We are also expected to learn by our self and she doesn't teach us the material that the assignments are on.

one of the best professors i've had at ryerson! she genuinely cares for her students and it shows! 2 guest speaker feedback posts, 5 assignments, 1 term exam, and a group project and presentation - lighter than it actually seems, as she's a generous marker. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Kiana is a truly caring professor. Make sure that you put in the work in class and stay active. The assignments are fair, the group project seemed very reasonable. Do not expect this course easy, because you have to work on your Appraisal Report with a team. Other than that, easy upper liberal.
