Julian Von Bargen

One of the sweetest and down to earth guys. He really enjoys connecting with his students and I dont know anyone who has an issue with him. His lectures are v long and sometimes boring and mark is determined by final paper and exam, in my experience he was very generous with my mark and he wants students to succeed

Professor von Bargen is really nice and his lectures are very interesting. The content studied in this course is really difficult to understand, but the quizzes are pretty easy and he gives students a lot of freedom in choosing topics for assignments which is great. The final exam was tough but overall, great class.

Julian is very friendly and accessible. Very good TAs. Participation has about 15% weightage. There are a lot of quizzes and readings, but they're straightforward. Great class!

Even though I took really detailed notes on the lectures, I didn't help me at all on the exam which was very disappointing. Just go to the mandatory tutorials and attempt to grasp the main ideas from the required readings and you'll be fine.

Professor von Bargen is very engaging with his online lectures and lots of the content from the course can be applied outside of class to your daily life, interests, and other courses. Overall, this course is very enlightening. The final project can be creative or a paper, so there is selection and he is a very open and fun person.

I really like Julian as a person and enjoyed his lectures. He is super knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. Also a very caring professor. Do have to definitely work for your marks.

Hes a really nice teacher who marks well

I loved this class. I started it without any interest and went throughout the course still not having any interest. I didn't do any readings but did learn a lot from his lectures. The breakdown of marking gives you many opportunities to get marks. TopHat is worth 5% so it may not be worth $30. This prof was very interesting and made 8am classes ok.
