Unfair, Unkind, poor grading policy.
Attend the lectures and you will be fine. Assignments and exams are easy. The only problem is that the questions are sometimes confusing.
The professor is very bad!! All the students feel that the TA is also fed up with the prof! If you have friends in the course who have knowledge about coding, you will survive the course, or else you will fail it horribly. You won't LEARN something at the end of the course! He just writes code in an IDE and presents on a very low-quality projector.
This is the worst professor I have ever had! He is least bothered about students. Though he is an easy marker, he will give you assignments that he didn't even talk about which will eventually degrade your GPA if you have no friends with whom you can copy your assignments. He doesn't care if you do your assignments or copy them with your pals.
The professor is fair, he would be better if he could have showed more patience and understanding towards students. The lecture maybe fast for beginners. The first assignment was difficult while the remaining ones were easy. We were given a second chance for the midterm due to saving problems. Gradings were not tough at all.
He doesn't care about his students and every time you email him and ask him questions he assumes you don't attend his lectures and tells you not to email him. He doesn't respond to emails. He even threatens that you will lose marks if you email him about your midterm grade! Assignments are too hard! Don't waste your time and take 109 instead!
These reviews are shocking. He is not caring. This is marketed for students with no coding background, yet assignments were far more difficult than the course for coders 109. He's so condescending to students. Half of the classes midterms were lost due to a miscommunication with the TA, yet he blamed students... No accountability! Take 109 instead!
Learned Java in this course, and was taught very well. The projects were amazing for getting to understand the language and object-oriented programming as a whole. Lectures had easy to read and well organized content, Jake was very enjoyable, I loved this course. No complaints, really.
The lectures got a bit dry sometimes. I found his best lectures to be those where he created programs of his own to make with us during the lecture. Sometimes, his classes won't be great, but you will come out with enough information to do well in exams. A good choice for a prof no doubt.
