KATE IS THE GOAT. She cares about her students so much and tries to make our lectures and projects more fun. Definitely take her.
Kate was very nice and accommodating but I could not deal with this course; it felt so pointless and her lectures were so boring. Grading was very unpredictable and fluctuated a lot. Assignments and discussion posts felt like a waste of time. Easy A, just hard on your patience.
Kate is a great lecturer and also such a kind person. Her course was my favourite of the semester. The content was engaging and thought provoking. I also really loved the assignments, they were a great opportunity to be creative and also learn a lot. Hoping to have another class with her in the future!
She's nice but her grading is not unpredictable. The first assignment seemed easy so I didn't put in that much effort and I only got a 70%, I spent a lot of time and effort on the next (identical) assignment got a 65%. She put way too much emphasis on the creative element more than learning, don't take unless you're proficient in Photo Editing
Super easy going, wants students to learn, and answers everyone's questions. The content can be very boring at times but she's engaging due to her extensive first-hand experience in the field. A lot of people complained about how many readings there were but there was no exam or tests so you really didn't have to read them all.
The class is asynchronous so if you like independent work you'll enjoy it. A lot of homework each week though I had to really assess what was important for the sake of time. Big projects and marking is tough-ish/fair. As a person, the professor is really friendly but the course is a lot.
This was an asynchronous course but her recorded lectures were great! She is good at explaining the material and is very knowledgable on the subjects. Although the material is interesting, there are too many readings and videos required each week. There are 2 big assignments 2 journal assignments and weekly discussion posts. Lots of work!
Kate seems like an amazing woman but this class was very hard. The assignments were never clear and I never got a good grade. I liked the weekly walking journals and I did my best and still only got 60% so who knows.
Kate is one of the sweetest professors at Ryerson. This course actually allows for creativity given the group assignment - mapping out an area of Toronto. You will be more knowledgeable about this city by the time you are done. Her guest speakers are informative. The mid-term and exam were super reasonable in length and the content they covered.
Such a knowledgeable prof. Midterm and final exams which are mostly common sense. Study the key concepts she mentions before the exams. Group project can be super fun and easy, just get in with a solid group :) This project is completed over the course of the full semester.
