Jason is such a teddy bear. A really elaborate person but a little too old to teach a class like gcm738 that's about new technologies and stuff. He gives great feedback and is supportive, but a little hard at marking. Wouldn't take his class again but wouldn't mind him if he pops up again. Overall: okay dude.
Give him back to us. Take Gillian as Chairman instead. We don't want her to teach us.
So.. many people have their doubts about jason but personally, i really enjoyed his class. He marks essays and assignment really fairly. Exam questions for the most part are nothing you wouldn't have already seen before if you attend class. Only thing is some times lectures were dry but i assume its just because some of the content its self was dry
Honestly one of the worst learning experience. On top of of the 30 powerpoint slides that are full of words, you makes you reads at least 4 websites per week that are full of useless info and take a full day to get through. They'll also ALL be on the exams instead of the content learned in class. Avoid if you can
He's a great marker. The essays and in-class assignments are easy because he actually reads them, but the midterm and final are obviously fair game since it is just scantron. He's very helpful if you just ask and he's incredibly kind too, you just need to take the time to get to know him, rather than assuming he's bad from word of mouth
Jason is the most passionate professor I've ever had! He really cares about the material and his students and is beyond educated on what he is teaching. I'm so glad i've been in his classes each semester, and I feel it is so unfair that he is rated so low because of the GCM110 exam last semester. He's definitely the best GCM professor we have.
Jason's lectures are clear and simple. Almost all information is put on PowerPoint slides (which are posted online as well) but note taking is encouraged since a lot of the material is technical. He responds to emails relatively quickly if you have any questions and often gives assignment extensions if students ask. Passionate and knowledgeable!
Jason is one of my favourite profs here at GCM. Some think his lectures are boring but i think as a prof, he's pretty good. He's really caring (gives us extensions a lot and marks pretty fairly on assignments). He's also funny sometimes too and gives inspirational quotes of the day.. Beware though participation matters, so try not to skip too much.
Not sure why a lot of people dislike his teaching style. It's simple. clear and concise. Material is a little tough to understand but gets easier. Lectures aren't dry if you pay attention.
Boring lectures and he does not communicate very well. Somewhat of a hard grader, exams are very technical and it does not set you up for success.
