Klaas Kraay

Dr. Kraay is AMAZING! I wasn't super excited for this elective, but his passion and knowledge made it hard not to love the class. The weekly readings (1-2/week) and reflections prepped me well for the midterm. His discussion-based format was incredibly engaging. I made an amazing group of friends and the class flew by every week. Highly recommend!

Only 4 weeks in but Dr. Kraay is a great professor. Captivating readings and 3h lectures that go by so quick as they're a fun and open dialogue. Great grade breakdown!

Kraay himself is a good prof and teaches quite well, however you will genuinely feel like you're mid war trying to survive this class. I would much rather drink an entire bottle of ever clear and chase it with 1800 if it means I didn't have to take this class again

He's an okay guy. I couldn't really pay attention as much in lectures and dozed off a few times cause he goes over a lot of material in just 2 hours. Going to tutorials helps you review and with test prep. You have to do a lot of work studying/memorizing concepts.

This class is a hard class I'm not going to lie. However, there are many different resources in order to help. I recommend attending his office hours and TA one's as well as they are understanding and really help. Study hard and memorize what he says and you'll do fine.

Lowkirkuenly hate this silly goose icl ts pmo. If you don't know the specific terminology, you're doomed.

I learned better teaching myself and attending tutorials than attending lectures as they tended to be confusing. This course was made harder than it is to weed people out that have study habits strong enough for uni. There IS a textbook but I got by without reading it, just make sure to not fall behind on lecture content

Weirdly into getting contraversial reactions from his students, some part of his attention seeking rubbed me the wrong way. Very heavy on examples which I dont like but its very helpful for some people. Graded by TA so most of ur grade depends on that.

The class isnt easy at all, ngl a lot of ppl here be lying abt their grades, youll know when he posts the class avarage. When it comes to the prof, he was very nice, and cared about his student. The way he teaches is very detailed and understandable, but sometimes he overdoes it. He also expects a lot, so keep that in mind.

This course is one of those courses that filter out students who aren't meant to be in university. Are the tests hard? Not if you study. Are you going to have to put in effort? Yeah, but it's not that hard. Fantastic professor. Awesome subject if you want to be there.
