Had Prof Marian as a substitute prof at Trent. She would post the lectures weeks late, or not at all. Never responded to her emails. The readings were impossible to understand without any sort of preface or context (they were almost all in ancient Mandarin)
I had her in my first semester of university and it was hard! but I loved having her as my professor. She was very understanding and willing to help outside of class. She even offered me help with scholarships! I remember her class was hard but very interesting, she was very passionate about the topic's class. I really recommend her as a prof :)
Dr. Marian is a kind and engaging professor who cares about her students. Unfortunately, this doesnt extend towards her teaching. assignments range from topic specific exercises to remedial beginner history exercises like identifying a primary source. Very late returning work + struggles online. Frequently changed assignments+ forgot instructions
Prof Marian was one of the most passionate and kind profs Ive ever had; she provided amazing feedback on assignments and sparked my love of history again. You can tell she genuinely loves being a prof and it drives you to do better as a student. A lot of small assignments (a lot of work for a small % of final grade) so it is easy to fall behind.
Part 3. She was a fair marker & an exceptional prof. One of the best Ive ever had. If you arent interested in the material she teaches, simply take the class to experience a uni professor who would do anything for her students. Any bad reviews are total BS. I rate this prof 10/10 and would take another class she teaches any day. - NS
Part 2. Every time I have felt stuck or confused she has taken the time to explain and help me in the exact ways that I needed. Professor Marian kept the entire class engaged and excited about the material were learning about, even for the people like myself, who never particularly took an interest in the history of Asia before. -NS
She was one of the first professors in my four years here to actually respark my interest and focus in history. Her hands on style of teaching and lectures were always interesting and stuck with you as someone was teaching your from a degree of passion and intelligence. Always accessible, and communicative. She goes above and beyond to enrich class
Unclear grading rubrics. Difficult to communicate with, often will just simply not respond to emails asking for clarification. Course syllabus was extremely confusing and constantly changing. Not a good professor at all, she shouldn't be in teaching in my opinion. Avoid at all costs.
Professor Marian was an amazing prof who really took the time to help when I would visit during office hours. She is pleasant, knowledgeable about the material, and eager to help you succeed. Overall, I felt like I learnt a lot in her class and Id definitely advise to take any couse that she teaches!
Probably one of the nicest, most caring profs in Ryerson. The class has a lot of readings, an essay (split into parts), several assignments/seminars, and a midterm exam. She is a decent marker but definitely gives you a chance to improve upon your grade. As mentioned in an earlier, feedback took a while as she had technical difficulties.
